Lean Transformation Coach, Ford Motor Company
Served as lean process engineer for the purpose of launching the lean transformation initiative. Created the necessary systems, training, and people to enable DCP to become the World Champion Niche vehicle and stripped chassis supplier. Developed training programs such as 8D, 5S; RedX, Value Stream mapping and others to help ingrain the lean culture. The department he oversaw has the task of teaching lean concepts to the entire enterprise.
Program Director, Detroit Chassis Plant, Ford Motor Company, Detroit, Michigan
Instrumental in the development of the “TH!NK” electric vehicle for Ford Motor Company into the Detroit Chassis Plant. This Low Speed Vehicle (LSV) was developed for closed communities, golf course communities and retirement areas. Conducted and attended meetings with Ford upper management assessing the product design, manufacturing build plan and assembly practices to assure the plan was sound financially and easy to manufacture. Acted as project coach on all aspects of the project from concept to customer.
Program Director, Detroit Chassis Plant, Ford Motor Company, Detroit, Michigan
Was responsible for the new Ford Motor Company postal vehicle project for the United States Government. The Vehicle was a replacement for the Postal Department’s existing aging vehicles. Interfaced with Ford management, government officials and utilimaster personnel. Responsibility was the assurance of a smooth integration of the vehicle into an existing facility with minimum disruptions. Also helped develop the overall plan, established project costs, issued and controlled supplier contracts, installation and launch of all tools & facilities and assisted in the launching of the vehicle. The program was delivered on time, within budget and increased the quality of the chassis. Team established practices that saved Ford Motor Company over $2,000,000.
Lean Process Engineer, Lesco Design and Manufacturing Company, Louisville, Kentucky
Helped Lesco Manufacturing develop internal systems and departments to bring their capabilities up to a full service conveyor supplier, during the Ford Motor Co. PHN-131 program. Worked closely with Lesco personnel training and mentoring until their core competencies were established. The PHN-131 project was a $40 Million dollar program for Ford Motor Company. At the peak of the project, Lesco employed over 200 people on the project. Lesco is now seen as one of the key suppliers in the industry.
Project Manager, CLT program, Ford Motor Company, Louisville, Kentucky
Successfully relocated a $625 Million F-Series Truck project for Ford Motor Company. His team of engineers developed the plan (which included complete processing of the F-Series Truck from body shop to pre-delivery), estimated expenditures and gained upper management approval of the plan. Responsibilities included overseeing all phases of construction including 1.1 million square feet of manufacturing space. The entire project included a waterborne paint facility, new body shop, frame department, trim department, final area and pre-delivery systems were completed on time, under budget and exceeded the planned launch curve. The program was recognized for excellent quality.
