Expertise in specification, design, development, and measurement of a wide range of analog circuits with very low phase modulation (PM) and amplitude modulation (AM) noise from audio to 100 GHz.

Specialization includes crystal oscillators and systems, microwave sources and systems, distribution systems, analog divider systems, and calibration systems. Other specialties include frequency synthesis systems, very stable thermal control systems, and mitigation of environmental effects in frequency references.

Highly experienced in areas including analyzing the residual PM and AM noise of a system and discerning the origin of excess noise for carrier frequencies from audio to 100 GHz, computing phase and timing jitter from measurements of PM noise. This consultant is also skilled in designing measurement systems with in-situ calibration to achieve rapid throughput for AM and PM measurements, measuring and understanding the residual PM and AM noise in components, and troubleshooting ground-loop problems in frequency standards and measurement systems
