Served as consultant to Engineered Custom Lubricants, DuPont, Castrol, Honeywell, Mendes & Mount, Lubrication Technologies, HL Blachford, Timtronics & Tribology Tech Lube, and HP.

Made product innovation and business development efforts that were instrumental in growing the company from $0.5 million to more than $25 million in annual revenue in less than 25 years. Made innovations in optical gel technology that led to the first successful index matching gel product for the company for fiber optics splices and connectors. Spearheaded the technology transfer of five different commercial products from other lubrication companies to Nye’s product line. Developed a successful synthetic lubricant for automotive brake cables and anti-lock braking (ABS) systems which has become the industry standard, generating revenues of more than $11 million over a four year period. Directed the design, procurement and installation of a majority of manufacturing and process machinery. Recruited and trained a staff for research laboratory, and specified, procured and developed test methodologies for more than $500,000 worth of state-of-the-art analytical laboratory equipment. Invented a test method and designed an innovative and cost effective vapor pressure measurement apparatus for analysis of high performance lubricants for spacecraft and gels for optical applications. Invented a new process for manufacture of polytetrafluoroethylene-thickened grease, providing a competitive advantage in terms of lower manufacturing cost and higher performance. Cultivated professional relationships with key engineering management and other technical gatekeepers in strategic automotive and aerospace accounts, which continue to garner lucrative new business opportunities. Developed an innovative approach to electrical contact lubrication for the automotive industry that dramatically reduces customers’ costs and improves the reliability for many automotive electronic products. Designed new high temperature grease for the US Air Force F-100 engine, which was both technically superior and more economical than the incumbent lubricant. Pioneered the commercialization of ultrafiltered fluid and gel technology for synthetic lubrication and optical materials. Personally developed the lubricant product formulations, which comprised more than 90 percent of the company's revenue base.

Two years of part-time work in polymer chemistry at Polytechnic Institute of New York while working for Ciba-Geigy.
