Was responsible for the following: Led the crash development process by supervising program teams and recommending, developing and verifying occupant protection systems to assure that regulatory and corporate requirements are met, while minimizing testing without risk to the safety attribute. Led all vehicle platforms by providing in-depth expertise in global crash performance and engineering evaluation requirements, data analysis, restraint system design and occupant injury performance. Continually evaluated information by benchmarking competition, reviewing company sources\ knowledge databases and holding supplier review meetings. Reviewed external\ internal sources and government agencies on “real world” injury patterns to determine appropriate engineering actions and occupant protection system design strategies. Analyzed the implications of proposed\ future regulatory actions on vehicle design and the interaction with existing global regulatory, corporate and public domain requirements. Knowledgeable about and promoted the application of state-of-the-art occupant crash modeling tools, testing methods, data analysis and statistical techniques to insure the optimization of vehicle designs while minimizing testing. Led the teams that developed adaptive restraint system technologies (Adaptive\ dual level: air bag venting, air bag tethers, load limiting retractors and steering columns) to meet future 5th\ 50th percentile FMVSS 208 phase II and CMVSS 208 requirements. Led the teams that developed driver air bag and wheel designs to meet all 5th percentile NHTSA-1\2 and future Canadian LRD\OOP requirements. Also, developed design alternatives on the passenger air bag systems to meet Ford internal LRD\OOP 5th and 6 year old percentile requirements. Worked with suppliers and Ford design and release engineers to develop a common strategy of needed restraint system hardware content, by vehicle platform, in order to meet USA frontal impact phase II and Canadian future regulatory requirements. Developed company-wide generic deployment strategies, barrier\HYGE sled prototype plans, and advanced restraint system product development process (component\ sub-system target cascading and verification requirements) used by all Ford development teams. Led a mentoring program to build technical maturity of general salary role employees. Participated on the safety patent committee. Developed numerous patents, which have been or will be implemented on Ford products to enhance crashworthiness.

Product Design Engineer, Research & Vehicle Technology, Vehicle Crash Safety, Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, MI

Was responsible for the crash and occupant kinematics analysis of the UPN105 (1/4 Explorer/Ranger), UPN150 (Ranger/Explorer), and U152/U231 programs. Duties included crash film and data analysis, heading safety PAT meetings, product change initiation and advanced technology restraint systems. Was responsible for coordinating the implementation of incoming changes to the MN12 (Thunderbird/Cougar) program. This was accomplished through B&AO matrix, pink report and CMT meeting assignments. Duties also included heading a PAT on a special NVH assignment of adding structural foam to the inside of the rocker. This required various trials at Lorain Assembly Plant in order to perfect the process.

Process Engineer, Rite-On Industries, Inc., Redford, MI

Was responsible for the process concept studies of automotive assembly tooling. Duties included heading the 1/2 CDW-27 (Tempo/Topaz Replacement) fixturing process for all closure type assembly tooling (Door, Fender, Hood and Decklid setting fixtures).

Project Engineer, Stokes Vacuum, Inc., Philadelphia, PA

Was responsible for the design and manufacturing of high-vacuum industrial rotary vane pumps, blowers and accessories. These components were mainly used on phases of semiconductor processing, such as chemical vapor deposition, plasma etching and deposition, reactive ion etching, and ion implanting. Duties also included customer pump application related problems and prototype equipment laboratory testing.

Manufacturing Engineer, Body and Assembly Operations (Vehicle Operations), Ford Motor Company, Allen Park, MI

Supervised contracted suppliers in the design, build and installation of automotive assembly tooling (Door, Fender, Hood, Decklid, Tailgate and Liftgate setting fixtures). Specialized in the pneumatic controls and mechanical design of these fixtures. Duties included reviewing and approving preliminary designs, providing tooling process concept studies, trouble shooting various production pneumatic fixtures on-site, writing purchase orders and negotiating contracts, local field design and build follow-up and conducting pneumatic logic seminars for maintenance personnel at Ford Assembly Plants across the country. Also worked with the stamping process of these panels at Ford - Rouge Office Building. Accomplishments at Ford Motor Company (Body & Assembly): MN-12 (T-Bird/Cougar), Lorain (Ohio) Assembly Plant. Initiated the launch of the door, hood and decklid production line. Worked with plant toolmakers and pipefitters to modify the tooling to decrease cycle time and operator stress. 1/2 UN-46 (Explorer), Louisville (Kentucky) Assembly Plant. Initiated the launch of the door, fender, liftgate, and hinge to door production line. Improved the method of door handling and installation to the moving body. Decreased tooling costs and improved quality. 1/2 EN-53 (Crown Vic./Grand Marq.), St. Thomas (Canada) Assembly Plant. Initiated the launch of Ford's largest closure tooling production line. Implemented the "no adjust" car build program which required tooling to be built within a 0.25 mm tolerance. Increased quality and production capacity. Other programs include the production line initiation of: VN-58 (Econoline) Avon Lake (Ohio) Assembly Plant, DN-5 (Taurus/Sable) Atlanta & Chicago Assembly Plants, F-Series Truck Norfolk, Twin Cities and Kansas City Assembly Plants, PN-63 (Ranger) Louisville (Kentucky) Assembly Plant.

Mechanical Engineer, Filtra-Systems Company, Wixom, MI

Used the Prime Medusa CAD/CAM system to design filtration systems. The filters were mainly used in the automotive industry. Duties included setting up a system library, writing computer programs to track incoming jobs and aiding shop workers in the construction of the filters.
