Contract Engineer, Bell Helicopter, Hurst, TX

Performed special assignment at vendor facility (Rogerson-Kratos) to institute Root Cause Problem Solving and FMECA for 430/427/412 Commercial Helicopter IIDS and EFIS systems. Duties included performing reliability stress analysis prediction (per MIL-HDBK-217) on Data Acquisition Unit and Display Unit using Relex (software) for the 412+ Integrated Avionics Display systems. This position included on-site Program Management for 427 IIDS certification program, which included coordination between Bell Helicopter Textron (Ft. Worth) and Bell Canada and vendor. Participated as part of integrated team that performed Highly Accelerated Life Test (HALT) on commercial aircraft display system. Additional responsibilities included FMECA on CV-22 Electronic Warfare equipment including Suite of Integrated RF Countermeasures. Also was responsible for BIT False Alarm analysis, Maintainability Prediction Report and Failure Reporting Corrective Action System (FRACAS).

Was responsible for RAM-D (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Durability) for the Hydropnuematic Suspension Unit (HSU) for the AAAV and the XM777 Ultra lightweight Field Howitzer. This included preparation of SDRL's for predictions, modeling & block diagrams, FMECA, Durability Test Plan, and the establishment of a FRACAS policy. Utilized Powertronics (PSI) software for Reliability predictions and FMECAs. Also was responsible for planning, scheduling and cost estimates for RAM-D.

Reliability/Maintainability Section Manager, Kaiser Electronics San Jose, CA

Was responsible for group of 20 Reliability/Maintainability/ Safety/Integrated Logistics Engineers. Provided training and staffing for major defense programs. Established environment of empowerment and teamwork in order to provide 100% on time delivery of data and 100% acceptance of hardware. Provided training to engineers in SPC, TQM, Team membership, team leadership and training regarding design verification techniques. Provided real time design verification for reliability, maintainability, safety, and logistics during the product development phase. Used Ford Loral Design and Process FMEA procedures. As engineering's representative on the Production Process Improvement Council, one of six company business councils, was instrumental in implementing and promoting SPC within the factory. These activities included training production personnel in the use of SPC tools such as run charts, Pareto charts, root cause problem solving, Cp., and Cpk. Presented results to Production Council that consisted of all the manufacturing upper management. The Statistical Process Control techniques implemented helped company reach their goal of a 50 times reduction in Defects per Unit and 10 times reduction in cycle time. Helped company to obtain silver certification in SPC with major customer. Started procedure to combine design and process FMEAs with SPC to help identify significant processes for SPC data collection and for capability studies.

Was responsible for establishing Reliability Program Requirements per MIL-Std-785 for Superteam LHX Mission Equipment Package.
