Oversaw the daily activities of the Consulting Department and the Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) laboratory. Directed PLM laboratory during the time it acquired American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) accreditation. Licensed as an inspector, management planner, project designer, and air monitor in South Carolina, as well as North Carolina. Performed all of the tasks associated with accreditations on a weekly basis. Performed various jobs for many of the school districts located throughout the state of South Carolina and North Carolina, along with several colleges and universities. Managed abatement projects while maintaining strong working relationships with school district representatives, architects, and regulating bodies. Performed indoor air quality evaluations including sampling for various types of airborne and bulk contaminants, identifying specific chemical-related problems associated with indoor air, sampling for particulates, checking carbon dioxide and relative humidity levels, and inspecting HVAC components. Participated in many school, residential, and commercial indoor air quality investigations. Attended many conferences to keep abreast of current indoor air quality issues and to continue education in this field. Role as Industrial Hygienist/Environmental Consultant included air monitoring for asbestos using NIOSH 582 methodology, performing asbestos inspections, designing AHERA management plans, and providing project designs and project management for asbestos abatement projects. Performed many lead-based paint inspections for demolition purposes. Was responsible for performing regularly scheduled industrial hygiene and sound monitoring to ensure the client’s OSHA compliance at a local mining operations facility. Performed many Phase I Environmental Site Assessment in compliance with the current ASTM Standard. Performed Phase I Environmental Site Assessments for industrial sites; urban businesses including, but not limited to, service stations; and rural sites including, but not limited to, a golf course. The sites sizes have ranged from <1 acre sites to 315 acre sites.
