This expert specializes in aerospace materials, advanced strength of materials, advanced mechanics of materials, and advanced fracture mechanics. Further expertise includes biomechanics, experimental methods in solid mechanics, experimental methods in mechanical engineering, and nondestructive evaluation. Other areas of expertise are measurements and instrumentation, mechanics of materials, dynamics, and materials science. Furthermore are mathematical theory of plasticity, mechanics, vibrations laboratory, and response of materials to impulsive loading.

This consultant's areas of expertise include solid mechanics, statics, theory of elasticity, and wave propagation. Other areas are elastic stress distribution at a crack front using scattered light photoelasticity, experimental investigation into interface fracture, constitutive behavior of polycarbonate, and mixed-mode fracture. This expert also specializes in mechanics and mechanisms of fracture in polymeric materials, scattered light photoelastic investigation of three-dimensional stress fields, necking and necking induced molecular orientation on mechanical and fracture behavior of polycarbonate.

Other areas of expertise and specialization include dynamic characterization of ni ti shape memory alloy, mechanical behavior of helicoidal composite, viscoelastic materials characterization under multiaxial loading, and mechanical behavior of metals subjected to thermal loading by short duration current pulses. Further specialties include the dynamics of phase transformations, elastic plastic fracture mechanics, deformation localization problems under quasi-static, and dynamic loading. Other areas of emphasis are boundary element methodology for crack path prediction in brittle and quasi-brittle materials incorporating a cohesive zone model.

This associate has expertise in areas related to seeded infiltration and growth, detection of transverse cracking in a hybrid composite laminate using acoustic emission, mesoscale friction tester, and exploring friction at length scales intermediate to atomic force microscopes and macroscale devices. This expert has experience with generating high strain rate loading on materials and structures, drop weight tower, split-Hopkinson pressure and tension apparatus. Further emphasis includes electromagnetic loading stress-wave generator, high speed camera for imaging events at 200,000 frames per second, and high speed digital image acquisition capable of 2 million frames per second.
