The Center for Obesity Surgery at a hospital wanted to conduct a survey of Family Practice Physicians. The Center's interest was specifically in outpatient practitioners' perceptions of morbid obesity and its surgical management. Individuals at the Center were interested in the thoughts of Family Practice Physicians who often have access to the most diverse patient populations
After meeting with the team in charge of this project, this consultant identified the main aims of the survey and developed a set of hypotheses that could be answered with the use of data collected in the surveys.
This consultant designed the Survey Form using an optical character recognition application and provided the surveys to the center. At the same time this consultant developed a Data Dictionary and a Data Analysis plan.
Once the surveys were returned, the information was entered into a database and this consultant developed a program in a statistical software package (SAS) to analyze the data as prescribed in the Data Analysis Plan.
Information that was generated from analysis of this data provided insight on the perception of Family Practice physicians on obesity and its surgical management.
