The beach is a good place to watch the girls in their interesting new suits. As I watched over several occasions, I noticed a trend among all one piece suits: When the wearer flexed her spine forward, backward or to the side, the suit behaved as a solid tube, or interrupted section of a tube, and the bra portion of the suit became too loose, too tight, or ill fitting depending on the flexural direction of the spine. This situation brought to mind the spiral weave on a hydraulic hose strain relief. I enlisted the help of a model friend and proceeded to design a suit that would stay snug no matter how the wearer bent. As designed, the suit was a delight to wear, always remaining comfortable and showing off the figure very nicely. Many swimwear catalogs had versions of this suit and "Sports Illustrated" featured it on the swimsuit issue cover.
