A client desired a current mirror circuit to operate on a lower input voltage than the conventional current mirror requires. This is important as power supply voltages become smaller as CMOS channel lengths are pushed to lower values. The circuit was to be implemented with 0.18 micron channel length devices. A new configuration was chosen to lead to a significantly reduced input voltage requirement.
